Nissan is making one of its most significant moves yet in the fast-growing hybrid SUV market with the debut of the all-new 2027 Nissan Rogue Hybrid. Set to arrive in dealerships beginning in fall 2026, the redesigned Rogue Hybrid introduces Nissan’s e-POWER system to U.S. buyers, combining electric-motor-driven performance with the everyday convenience of gasoline refueling.

For families and commuters across the Memphis area and beyond, the new Rogue Hybrid is designed to offer a familiar SUV experience with a different kind of powertrain: smoother acceleration, quieter operation, standard all-wheel drive, advanced technology, and an estimated 40 miles per gallon—without requiring drivers to plug in or change their normal routine.

A hybrid that drives differently

Unlike many conventional hybrid systems, Nissan’s e-POWER setup uses a gasoline engine primarily to generate electricity. That energy charges a battery, which supplies power to dual electric motors that drive the wheels.

The result, Nissan says, is an electric-like driving experience with immediate torque, responsive acceleration, and quieter operation, while retaining the flexibility of filling up at a traditional gas station.

“Hybrids are increasingly becoming the powertrain of choice for U.S. customers, and we believe that trend will only accelerate,” said Christian Meunier, chairman of Nissan Americas. “The launch of Rogue Hybrid marks a pivotal moment for Nissan, helping us attract new customers and strengthen our business.”

The 2027 Rogue Hybrid will come standard with dual-motor all-wheel drive. Nissan estimates the SUV will achieve up to 40 mpg, a figure aimed at helping drivers stretch their fuel budget while maintaining the cargo space, passenger room, and confidence expected from a compact SUV.

Nissan says its e-POWER technology has been refined through three generations of development and has been used in nearly 2 million vehicles globally.

Pricing and availability

Nissan plans to begin sales of the 2027 Rogue Hybrid in fall 2026 with the SR AWD model equipped with the SR Technology Package. A broader lineup—including SV, SR, and Platinum grades—is scheduled to follow in early 2027.

Technology designed for daily driving

The Rogue Hybrid is expected to offer a long list of connectivity, convenience, and driver-assistance features. Nissan says a 12.3-inch touchscreen will be standard, along with wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, and a Qi2 wireless phone charger.

Higher trims will offer a 14.3-inch display, Google built-in, and Google Gemini integration. The Platinum model will include the larger display as standard, while it will be available on the SR model.

Nissan is also adding a class-exclusive e-Pedal with Smooth Stop technology, intended to make stop-and-go traffic more intuitive by allowing more driving control through accelerator-pedal input. Available driver-assistance technology includes upgraded ProPILOT Assist, Auto Lane Change, and Hands-Off Traffic Jam Support.

Standard safety technology is expected to include:

• Automatic Emergency Braking.

• Blind Spot Warning and Blind Spot Intervention.

• Lane Departure Warning.

• Intelligent Lane Intervention.

• Additional driver-assistance features across the lineup.

For drivers navigating daily traffic, suburban commutes, school pickups, and weekend travel, these systems reflect how compact SUVs are increasingly becoming mobile technology platforms as much as traditional vehicles.

Family-focused functionality

Beyond fuel economy and screens, Nissan has focused the new Rogue Hybrid on the needs of families. Rear doors open nearly 90 degrees, a practical feature for loading children, car seats, groceries, or bulky items. The SUV will also offer five LATCH anchors, allowing a child seat to be secured in the center position.

Nissan says Rogue Hybrid will provide more front headroom than any other hybrid in its class and class-leading front legroom among hybrid competitors. Zero Gravity seats will be standard in the front and rear outboard seating positions, with materials and design details intended to improve long-drive comfort.

The cabin also retains physical controls for core functions such as climate settings, fan speed, airflow direction, heated seats, available ventilated seats, and audio volume. That decision is notable at a time when many newer vehicles are shifting common controls into touchscreen menus.

A bolder Rogue design

The all-new Rogue Hybrid receives an updated exterior designed to look wider, tougher, and more refined than the outgoing Rogue. Nissan describes a more integrated grille and headlamp treatment, chiseled fenders, sharp body lines, and full-width rear lighting.

Its designers also incorporated visual references to Nissan’s Japanese heritage. The daytime running lights use a two-and-three arrangement—a nod to the Japanese pronunciation of the brand name: ni for two and san for three. The rising beltline at the C-pillar creates a triangular shape inspired by Mount Fuji, while a subtle cloud detail sits behind the glass.

Standard 18-inch wheels will be offered on SV models, while SR and Platinum trims will receive 19-inch wheels. Inside, Nissan says it has emphasized soft-touch materials, durable matte surfaces in high-touch areas, and a more premium layout with fewer glossy piano-black trim pieces.

“This is a new kind of Rogue, and the design needed to reflect that,” said Hiren Patel, Nissan senior design manager. “The 2027 Rogue Hybrid is a new type of driving experience—it blends excitement and efficiency.”

Why the Rogue Hybrid matters

The Rogue is Nissan’s best-selling vehicle in North America, making the hybrid version an important test of the company’s strategy to grow its appeal among buyers who want improved efficiency but are not ready to move entirely to a battery-electric vehicle.

The 2027 Rogue Hybrid also arrives as hybrid SUVs continue to gain traction with consumers seeking lower fuel use without the charging considerations of a fully electric vehicle. By giving the wheels electric-motor power while retaining gasoline refueling, Nissan is aiming to create a bridge between conventional gasoline SUVs and full EVs.

For Mid-South drivers, that could make the Rogue Hybrid especially relevant. Many households want the flexibility to handle everyday commutes, family travel, unpredictable weather, and longer road trips without planning around charging stations. Nissan’s approach is built around offering that flexibility while delivering a quieter, more responsive driving experience than buyers may expect from a traditional hybrid.

The first 2027 Nissan Rogue Hybrid SR AWD models with the SR Technology Package are expected to arrive in fall 2026, with the full range to follow in early 2027.
