TRUSTED CONSERVATIVE LEADERSHIP

About

Brent Taylor is a lifelong conservative leader and businessman representing Tennessee’s 31st Senate District, which includes portions of Shelby County. Born and raised in rural North Mississippi, Taylor moved to Memphis to serve as a funeral director after earning his degree in mortuary science. His political career began in 1995 when, at age 27, he became the youngest person ever elected to the Memphis City Council. During his tenure, he earned a reputation as a fiscal hawk, famously never voting for a tax increase.

Legislative Leadership & Public Service

Elected to the Tennessee Senate in 2022 with over 66% of the vote, Taylor has quickly become one of the most prominent voices in the General Assembly. He currently serves as:

  • First Vice Chairman: Commerce and Labor Committee

  • Vice Chairman: Transportation and Safety Committee

  • Member: Judiciary Committee

Taylor has distinguished himself as the community’s leading advocate for public safety. He has championed several high-profile public chapters, including the Parental Accountability Act and legislation mandating that magistrates prioritize community safety when setting bail. In 2025 and 2026, he has been at the forefront of efforts to address crime in Memphis, frequently advocating for increased transparency in the judicial system and supporting the deployment of state resources to bolster local law enforcement.

Professional & Business Background

For over two decades, Taylor was a fixture in the Mid-South funeral industry. Alongside his wife, Kimberly, he built a successful network of family-owned funeral homes. In January 2026, the funeral operation previously bearing his name transitioned to new ownership and management under Heritage Family, allowing Taylor to focus more fully on his legislative duties and public advocacy as he seeks re-election to the Senate in the 2026 cycle.

Personal Life

Brent and Kimberly Taylor have been married for over 30 years and reside in Eads, Tennessee. They are the proud parents of two adult children: Gage, an attorney in Dallas, and Molly, an interior architect living in Montana with her husband, Mick. The Taylors remain active members of Trinity Baptist Church in Cordova.
