The Final Countdown: Choosing Competence Over Party Labels in Shelby County
July 12, 2026
The final push before Early Voting closes. Contrasting the old, sluggish status quo with a streamlined, structured future. A direct call to action to vote.

As Early Voting draws to a close tonight, Shelby County voters find themselves standing at a critical administrative crossroads. On August 6, the general election will decide who takes the reins of the County Clerk’s office for the next four years. And as the political noise reaches a fever pitch, it is time to cut through the partisan distractions and look at the choice with absolute clarity.

For decades, local elections in our community have followed a highly predictable script. We have routinely allowed national political tribalism, party labels, and comfortable familiarity to dictate how we vote for local administrative positions. But a political party label cannot fix a broken computer system. A partisan slogan cannot process a license plate application faster. Familiarity hasn't stopped the lines from wrapping around the block.

Tina Montgomery is issuing a bold, historic challenge to the voters of Shelby County: it is time to stop voting for a political brand, and start voting for the technical competence our county desperately needs.

Facing the Political Elephant Head-On

Tina isn't naive about the unique political dynamics of Shelby County. As a proud Black woman running as a Republican in a traditionally Democratic stronghold, she has faced her fair share of skepticism, partisan side-eyes, and institutional pushback. But instead of running away from those complex conversations, Tina addresses them with a raw, breathtaking honesty that is completely missing from modern politics.

"Look at me," Tina says with absolute pride. "And all this beautiful blackness. And look at those ladies and men over there with all that beautiful blackness. I'm black first. That's one thing that is true... However, like I told them, this office, the County Clerk's office, does not make any laws, right? And none of that good stuff. We're administrative. We're gonna get your tags out on time if you get me in office."

This is the exact shift in perspective that could fundamentally transform Shelby County government. Tina is pointing out a simple, liberating truth: local administrative offices have nothing to do with national political warfare. The Clerk's office doesn't vote on social legislation, supreme court appointments, or federal borders. It is a logistics hub. When you prioritize a candidate's party label over their actual capability to perform the administrative job, you are actively voting to keep the system broken.

Overcoming the Poison of Division

During her time on the campaign trail, Tina has watched with deep sadness as partisan hostility threatens to tear down the baseline fabric of our community. She sees through the performative division and calls it exactly what it is: an obstacle to progress.

"I can't understand how people that claim to be Christian are spewing so much hate," Tina reflects. "Right now, it's almost like, 'I don't care what's right. I don't care what's good. Both parties are like, nobody's gonna win. You won't win, I'm not gonna let you. I don't care how good your policy is.' And it's so sad, because we know that the scriptures say a divided house cannot stand. America is in trouble."

Tina’s campaign is an open invitation to break that toxic cycle right here in Shelby County. She is refusing to play the game of political division. She isn't asking to see your voter registration card before she promises to fix your wait times. She is offering her 30 years of corporate accounting experience, her process management skill set, and her unyielding work ethic to every single resident of this county—Democrat, Republican, and Independent alike.

The Clear Choice for a Better Future

The final countdown is officially here. On August 6, the excuses stop, and the future begins.

We can choose to double down on the same familiar political structures that have left us standing in the heat for hours, or we can choose a historic breakthrough. We can hire a 30-year professional accountant, a devoted Christian leader, a proven nonprofit founder, and a proud daughter of Memphis who sees you not as a voting statistic, but as the ultimate boss of local government.

Let’s leave the partisan division behind and vote for real, measurable capability. It’s time for structured efficiency. It’s time for shorter lines. It’s time for professional transparency. It is officially Time for Tina Montgomery.
