People often ask me what makes Circuit Court unique. My "elevator speech" is simple: we handle almost everything that isn't criminal, bankruptcy, or probate. But that simplicity hides a massive responsibility. In Tennessee, our court has "unlimited jurisdiction."

In Division 3, we see the full spectrum of the human experience. One day, I may be presiding over a twelve-day medical malpractice trial involving dozens of expert witnesses and millions of dollars; the next, I might be hearing a family law matter or a simple breach of contract case.

Because the stakes are so high—affecting families, livelihoods, and businesses—efficiency is my priority. I pride myself on being a "multitasker" who keeps the docket moving. Whether through modernizing our court with Zoom accessibility or strictly managing our dismissal dockets to clear backlogs, my goal is to ensure that "your day in court" happens without undue delay. Justice delayed is justice denied, and in Shelby County, we are working to make sure your cases are adjudicated with the speed and seriousness they deserve.
