In the world of digital media, we often talk about "content." We talk about clicks and reach. But at JustMyMemphis, we’ve always believed that our platform should be more than just a digital megaphone; it should be a mirror that reflects the best of our community. It should be a place where the stories that shape our neighborhoods, our families, and our future find a home.

That is why I am incredibly proud to announce a new weekly column launching on our platform. Starting Monday, May 4th, JustMyMemphis will premiere The Heart of the Docket, written by Magistrate Mitzi Pollard.

This isn’t just a guest blog or a campaign update. This is a rare invitation into the chambers of a woman who has spent over a decade navigating the intersection of law and humanity. Mitzi is taking the robe off, so to speak, to share a masterclass in leadership, resilience, and grace.

The Platform: A Digital Hub for Mentorship

When we started JustMy, the goal was simple: provide a space for local voices to lead. Memphis is a city of storytellers, but too often, our best stories are kept behind closed doors. By bringing The Heart of the Docket to JustMyMemphis, we are giving a leader in our judiciary a direct line to the next generation of Memphians.

Magistrate Pollard’s series will be a true multimedia experience. Every column will feature her brand video and digital profile, allowing readers to see the woman behind the words. It’s about building a digital command center where young women can find a roadmap for their own success.

The Writer: A Trailblazer with Memphis Soul

To understand why The Heart of the Docket is a must-read, you have to understand the woman behind the pen.

Mitzi Pollard is a veteran of the bench who has presided over more than 46,000 matters in Juvenile Court. That is 46,000 times she has had to weigh the law against the complex realities of life in Shelby County. She has seen the highs, the lows, and everything in between.

But her story started long before the bench. From her time as a sole practitioner fighting for families to her roots in her family’s legendary business, A&R Bar-B-Que, Mitzi carries the Memphis work ethic in her DNA. She is a graduate of the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law, and she has spent her career proving that you can be both a brilliant legal authority and a compassionate neighbor.

Behind the Scenes with Magistrate Mitzi Pollard

The Mission: Gavel, Grace, and the Next Generation

In this series, Mitzi is shifting the focus. While she is a candidate for Circuit Court Judge, Division 3, The Heart of the Docket is about the legacy she wants to leave behind. She is writing specifically to inspire, educate, and uplift the young women of Memphis.

She brings three distinct perspectives to this series:

1. Leadership Lessons from 46,000 Decisions

Most people only see a courtroom during their most difficult moments. Mitzi sees it every day. She will be sharing how to lead with authority and confidence—lessons that apply whether you are walking into a courtroom, a boardroom, or a classroom.

2. Conflict with Compassion

A decade in Juvenile Court teaches you how to stay calm when the stakes are at their highest. Mitzi will explore how temperament and respect can de-escalate conflict and why "grace" is just as important as the "gavel" when it comes to true justice.

3. The Blueprint for Resilience

Mitzi didn't get to the bench by accident. She built a career on grit and integrity. Through this series, she’ll offer advice on navigating the unwritten rules of professional life, overcoming obstacles, and building a life of service right here in Shelby County.

Why It’s a Must-Read

We live in a time where young people are looking for authentic mentors—leaders who have actually "done the work." The Heart of the Docket is that connection point.

You should read this series because it is an investment in the future of our city. Mitzi isn’t just talking about the law; she’s talking about the character required to lead. She is a mentor who has spent years training volunteers and working to strengthen our legal community, and now she is opening that circle to all of Memphis.

Mark Your Calendars

At JustMy, our mission is to Be Positive, Be Local, and Be JustMy. Magistrate Mitzi Pollard embodies every bit of that mission. She is a leader who leads with her heart, and she has the experience to back it up.

I invite you to join us on this journey. Don’t miss the debut of The Heart of the Docket.

Memphis, it’s time to see what happens when we lead with a steady hand and an open heart. Mitzi Pollard is ready on day one, and through this series, she’s going to help ensure the next generation is ready, too.

See you on Monday, May 4th.
