As the daughter of a carpenter and a 30-year public servant, she was raised to look at a mess and see an opportunity to build something better. Now, as a Senior Program Manager for Shelby County Government, she is ready to apply that "A-Team" energy to one of the county’s most vital, yet troubled, offices.

"It does not take rocket science to fix the operations," she explains. It takes someone with the energy to stay until the job is done and the vision to see that the current state of morale is the biggest barrier to progress. Arriell understands that if the employees aren't treated with dignity, the customers never will be. Her plan includes an annual report that holds her office accountable to the public—inviting the citizens to measure her success.

Bridging the Divide

In a room full of strangers or a county full of diverse voices, Arriell leads by listening. She points to her experience facilitating gun safety sessions between staunch 2nd Amendment advocates and victims of violence as proof that she can bring people together to find solutions. Whether it's working with frustrated car dealers or impatient residents, Arriell’s goal is to turn "butting heads" into "building together."

She is proudly the youngest person in the race, a fact that she uses as motivation rather than a deterrent. "You told people just like me to grow up, get an education, and give back to your community," she told supporters. "How dare I not live that out?"
