Riverside Missionary Baptist Church has a rich history dating back to 1887 when a group of dedicated individuals gathered under a bush harbor near old Nonconnah Creek with a vision to create a place of worship. Led by Reverend Calvin Morris, the church's first pastor, and guided by the Holy Spirit, this vision materialized into the establishment of Riverside Missionary Baptist Church. On June 24, 1897, the church secured a plot of land at 248 West Mitchell Road, and by December 19, 1897, a deed was filed, marking the beginning of the church's physical presence.

Over the years, Riverside has been shepherded by numerous pastors who have contributed to its growth and development. From Reverend W. M. Scott in the early 20th century to Reverend Reginald S. Boyce in recent years, each leader has left an indelible mark on the church's journey. Notable milestones include the construction of a new sanctuary in 1972, the establishment of the O. D. White Family Life Center in 1997, and the opening of a new sanctuary at 3590 S. Third Street in 2017.

Riverside's commitment to community and spiritual growth is evident through its various programs and initiatives. Under the leadership of different pastors, the church has launched remodeling projects, expanded its facilities, and implemented numerous Christian programs. The "I AM 22" movement, created by Pastor Boyce, exemplifies Riverside's dedication to fostering a committed mindset of service among its members.

Today, Riverside Missionary Baptist Church continues to thrive, embracing its mission to glorify God and serve the community. The church remains a beacon of faith, hope, and love, looking forward to the future with the same visionary spirit that guided its founders.
