Memphis, it is time to bring your appetite—and your civic curiosity.

Attorney, speaker and former county candidate Sonya N. Murphy is hosting Ballot and Brunch, an afternoon gathering designed to give residents a welcoming space to fellowship, enjoy brunch and get informed about what will appear on the November ballot for state and federal elections.

The event is set for Sunday, September 27, from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Collins Chapel CME Church, 676 Washington Ave., Memphis, TN 38105.

Presented in partnership with the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church’s Connectional Ministry, the NAACP, and MICAP Memphis, Ballot and Brunch puts a community-centered spin on voter education. Instead of making civic engagement feel formal or intimidating, Murphy’s event invites people to come together over a meal and meaningful conversation about the decisions that will shape Tennessee, Memphis and the nation.

The November ballot is expected to include important state and federal races, making it especially valuable for voters to understand their choices, know key dates and leave with the confidence to participate.

Murphy, a Memphis attorney known for her legal knowledge and commitment to community service, will host the gathering. Her goal is simple: create an environment where people can connect, ask questions and become better prepared to make their voices heard at the ballot box.

And yes—there will be brunch. Because some of the best community conversations happen around a table.
